Fairfield MowGreen.US Grass-Roots Initiative for CT Clean Energy Options

MowGreen Reelers Canvass Fairfield Seeking Sign-ups for State - Backed Clean Power Program

The Fairfield's Clean Energy Task Force (CETF) supports initiatives to garner sign-ups in Fairfield for the CT Clean Energy Options program, allowing Fairfield residents to purchase 50 to 100% of their electricity from a clean power source;Community Energy, who supplies mostly wind power. MowGreen.US is working in cooperation with Fairfield's CETF to spread the word about the exciting option which offers additional benefits to the town, with a grass-roots, door to door canvassing effort.

The state puts up money to help towns spread the word to rate payers that they may elect to have 50 to 100% of their power to be supplied from a "clean provider" (currently wind power and low impact hydro from Community Energy) for a very slight increase in monthly charges, usually less then $10 per month extra, depending on usage. Not only does that support clean power source growth and reduce pollution now, but it gets better! Community Energy also rebates the town $25 per household sign-up and for every 100 sign-ups, Fairfield receives a free solar system ($20,000 value) to help the town build a cleaner, lower - cost energy future. That means rate payers may ultimately recoup some of their investment through moderated taxes resulting from lower municipal energy costs. Fairfield CETF, along with many helpers, has already signed up 800 participants (MowGreen.US HQ included) and received 8 of these Solar arrays. Also, those who sign up with MowGreen's initiative in July will receive some free low energy compact fluorescent lightbulbs.

Some MowGreen staff, including founder Dan Delventhal, Matt & Will Speno & George Shtern spent time at the Brickwalk Saturday Farmer's Markets to get tuned up and 5 or 10 new sign-ups were secured. Door to door canvassing began this week. If nobody is home when MowGreen visits, a CT Clean Energy signup sheet will be dropped at the front door along with a very small MowGreen flier printed on 100% recycled paper. Delventhal says the target for this two week effort is to get another 100 sign-ups, and hopefully some new green lawn care customers as well. "Enlightened people vote with their purchases - and like paying just a bit more for organic food to promote our long term survival, CT Clean Energy Options is similarly compelling. And some good news about MowGreen lawncare is that it doesn't cost more than "dirty" lawncare; quiet, clean & green, no extra charge!"

MowGreen staff is going door to door, promoting the CT Clean Energy Options program for Fairfield, and also to expand their own brand of reel green mowing inspiration - its a grass roots reel-volution!
